Dear Readers,
It's been so long since my last post, well I'm back :)! After performed my Umrah at Mecca, I came back with different set of mind. Been there for around 12 days really open up my mind in some perspectives and teach me a lot on how to improve myself to be better and treat everyone around me nicely. I am not saying that somehow I become angel or saint, it's just I experienced a lot and keep trying to be better every single day.
As making new friend is one of my hobby, I've got many friends from around the world and they teach me a lot about their culture, perspective and custom. Besides my foreigner friends, most of my close friends is Non Muslim too. Some people especially from my origin asking me why I love to be friend with Non Muslim
people?. Frankly it's hard to explain the reasons of my action on friend making habit. ^^~~ However I felt be friend with someone that is different from you will wide up your eyes and mind more.
Another reasons is when we be friends with different race, religions, it will make us respect each other more. Yes I agree, sometimes to be friend with someone who is different from you can lead into misunderstanding on some issues such as religion practice, faith, custom and so on. However in order to maintain friendship we need to learn those cultures, custom, religion, faith ( these doesn't mean you will follow what they did, it's just for understanding; not more than that).
Most of my foreigner friends and close friends always have misconception about Islam or being a Muslim. I am not blaming them for that as in some of their countries they never ever heard about Islam or there is no sufficient information about Islam as Muslim is a minority group. As I went to one of bookstore at Mecca to look for Al-Quran (for my personal keeping) I found one of the best book to describe about Islam. Before this, back at my country I never find this book even though I am living in quite secular Islamic country. Browsing the book for few pages makes me think "I should get at least one copy for myself!" Yes I am born as a Muslim but then some of those Islamic concept were not stick on my mind anymore, ^^~~~~ so I need to improve myself on that and as a bonus after this if any of my Non Muslim friends asking me about Islam concept, I can explain to them :)
I bought one copy, later on the evening I went to the same bookstore with intention of buying another copy, unfortunately no more left! They have other copies but its not in English, its in French, and Spanish. I'm glad that I bought earlier even though I only got one copy at least. I'm not yet finish reading it, reading two chapters a day, the way they provide the information with the illustration really make it fun to look at and not boring. ^^*
